This Cookie Policy explains how SCADA & Beyond with Alana (“we,” “us,” “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on alanamurray.com (the “Site”). It also explains your choices.

1) What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Related technologies include local storage, pixels, and SDKs. We use them to operate the Site, understand performance, and remember preferences.

2) Who sets cookies?

First-party cookies are set by us (via WordPress/SureCart).
Third-party cookies are set by our providers (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, Google Analytics).

3) How we categorize cookies

Essential (required): Core functions like checkout, security, and login/session. These run without consent because the Site won’t work otherwise.
Analytics/Performance: Measure traffic and help us improve content (e.g., GA4). In EEA/UK, we ask for consent before using these.
(If enabled) Advertising/Marketing: Track interests to personalize ads. We do not use advertising cookies today. If that changes, we’ll update this Policy and where required, we will ask for consent first.

4) Your choices

Cookie banner (EEA/UK): Non-essential cookies load only after you consent. Consent must be specific and freely given; scrolling or pre-ticked boxes isn’t valid consent. You can change your mind anytime via [Cookie Preferences] in our footer.
Browser controls: You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

5) Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the Site is used (pageviews, events). GA4 does not log or store IP addresses; for EU users, IP addresses are dropped before logging, and we can disable Google Signals and granular location/device data per region. We gate GA4 behind consent in EEA/UK. Retention is set to 14 months (or shorter if configured).

6) Payments & checkout

SureCart powers our store/checkout and sets essential cookies for cart/session.
Stripe and PayPal may set cookies to detect fraud and complete payments. These are essential to transactions.

7) Local storage & similar tech

Our banner and preferences tool may use localStorage to remember your choices. Some plugins may use similar storage for performance or security.

8) Region-specific notes

EEA/UK: Non-essential cookies require prior consent; cookie walls and implied consent are not valid.
California (CPRA): If we ever “sell” or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, we will provide a clear Do Not Sell or Share link and honor GPC signals. We don’t do this today.

9) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The “Last Updated” date shows the latest version. We’ll highlight material changes on this page.
